Meet Our Producer
Alexandra King is the visionary creator of Seraglio Ballet, the groundbreaking production that has captivated audiences with its vibrant storytelling and cultural authenticity. Based in Santa Barbara, California, Alexandra is a highly regarded Middle Eastern dance artist, celebrated across the United States for her dedication to preserving and promoting the authentic dance arts of Greece, Spain, India, and the Middle East.
Alexandra is a highly sought-after instructor, performer, and choreographer throughout the U.S. In 1989 she co-founded the UCSB Middle East Ensemble with Dr. Scott Marcus and Sue Rudnicki, and still serves as it's Dance Director. Her passion for blending cultural heritage with innovative artistry combined with her production and screen-writing skills is at the heart of her mission to bring Seraglio Ballet to audiences worldwide, both on-stage and on the screen.

Since founding her school in 1981, Alexandra King Dance has entertained audiences, trained generations of dancers, and fostered a deeper appreciation for the diverse arts and cultures in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Many of her students have gone on to become prominent professionals, including Ansuya, Tamra-Henna, Paulina, and Saundra.
Alexandra has worked internationally as a performer, choreographer, producer, and teacher, traveling extensively through North Africa, Greece, and the Middle East to study and document traditional dances. Her diverse training includes ballet, pointe, tap, Middle Eastern and Greek folk dances, classical Persian dance, Polynesian dance, Flamenco, Bharata Natyam, and four styles of Cabaret dance. From 2000 to 2004, she was a lecturer in the UCSB Department of Dramatic Arts and Dance, teaching dances of the Middle East.
In 1989, Alexandra co-founded the UCSB Middle East Ensemble with Dr. Scott Marcus and Sue Rudnicki. As the ensemble’s dance director, she developed an extensive repertoire of dance styles and choreographies from Greece and the Middle East, solidifying her reputation as a pioneer in the field.
Currently, Alexandra continues her works as a highly sought-after instructor, performer, and choreographer, while also serving as the Dance Director for the UCSB Middle East Dance Ensemble. Her passion for blending cultural heritage with innovative artistry combined with her production and screen-writing skills is at the heart of her mission to bring Seraglio Ballet to audiences worldwide, both on stage and on screen.
